Parachute will take part in National Poison Prevention Week, from March 21 to 27 in 2021, to raise awareness about preventing unintentional poisoning. This annual national poison awareness campaign draws attention to the causes of poisoning and how to prevent them from occurring. In 2021, we’re promoting the theme, #CheckForPoisons.
As part of the #KnowWhatImpairedMeans public awareness campaign to address attitudes and behaviours around cannabis and driving among Canadians aged 15 to 24, Parachute created a targeted campaign aimed at parents of teens. This free webinar, on March 11 at 1 p.m. EST, will provide an in-depth look at the development and key messages of #HaveThisTalk, along with campaign evaluations and key learnings.
Parachute leads this national campaign to teach parents and others who care for children how to safely store cannabis edibles out of sight and reach of curious kids.
Parachute in the news
Why injury prevention matters
At Parachute, Canada’s national charity dedicated to injury prevention, we know the majority of injuries are predictable, and preventable.
In Canada, unintentional injury is…
No.1 cause of death for people ages 1 to 34
Top 3 causes of death ages 35 to 64
One child dies every day on average from an injury
65% of injury-caused deaths in seniors stem from falls
In the past decade, we’ve seen fewer injury-related deaths in Canada thanks to better laws, products and education. How we can do more:
We envision a Canada free of serious injuries, with Canadians living long lives to the fullest.
We want people to play, explore and be active while avoiding hazards that can cause injury and death.
So go ahead and skydive – but wear your parachute, when you do.
